This site is a joint effort among the Sea Grant programs in the five U.S. states bordering the Gulf of Mexico. These university-based programs use research, outreach and education to foster understanding, wise use and stewardship of coastal and marine resources. They are also part of the 34-program strong National Sea Grant College Program, dedicated to meeting the changing environmental and economic needs of the coastal, ocean and Great Lakes regions.
The programs collaborate on a number of initiatives:
- Outreach on the Science of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill
- Climate Outreach Community of Practice
- Red Snapper Stock Abundance
- Restoring the Hydrology of Coastal Wetlands
