Sea Grant team to host free workshop on marine mammals and oil

On March 29, members of the Sea Grant oil spill science outreach team will gather at the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary Offices in Galveston, Texas, to host their next free seminar, “Oil spill response, assessment, and restoration: Marine mammals.” There, university researchers and government experts will reveal what they know about how oil spills impact the health of marine mammals. These experts will share the latest science concerning whale and dolphin populations in the Gulf of Mexico, with a focus on their health after oil spills and protocols relating to response, assessment, and restoration. A discussion about integrating science, response, and management for marine mammals will follow.

This workshop will be open to the public with no charge. Lunch will be provided for registered participants. For those who cannot travel to Texas, the event will be livestreamed via webinar. To register to attend in person or learn more about how to watch remotely, click here.
